Anne’s Creative Threads

On Thursday morning at 7am it started to get darker and darker and before long the outside lights had switched themselves on. I guessed we were in for yet more rain and by 8am it was torrential. I had to go out and the rain was so heavy that my wipers were struggling to keep the windscreen clear and I could hardly see where I was going. It had eased off a bit when I came home but that was only a brief respite before it started to come down even harder again. Not very inspiring weather for sewing and I decided instead to move the furniture round in my sewing studio, mainly just switching a few tables so that I can now look out of the window when I’m working at my sewing machine.

My cutting table is now my former sewing table, a bit reduced in size, but at least it is uncluttered.

My stash of batiks; interesting how my pile of greens is bigger than anything else, closely followed by browns. I did get some sewing done as I finished hand sewing the binding on my latest gecko wall hanging, now on the ironing board waiting for a final pressing. All my other, non batik fabrics, are in another room as I ran out of space here.

My inspiration board

I have a cork board above the computer with some of my favourite photos, notes and some of my photos that I have used to create designs. The screensaver on my monitor is the view from my old home on the Isle of Wight where I grew up, I visited when I was back in England last year and took this photo.

The view out of my window and the pouring rain. When the weather finally improves I want to tidy up out there and put some more plants so that I have a more pleasant view. Everything is looking a bit sorry for itself at the moment.
